1. Information Collection

We Do NOT Collect:

• ❌ Personal information (names, email addresses, phone numbers)
• ❌ Account credentials or passwords
• ❌ Files or data you upload to the App
• ❌ Analysis results or findings
• ❌ Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• ❌ Location data (beyond what you provide)
• ❌ Usage analytics or tracking data
• ❌ Payment information (handled by Apple/Google)

Optional Services (Your Choice):

ForensAI may use the following optional services, which you can disable:

1. Address Geocoding (OpenStreetMap Nominatim API)

• Purpose: Converts addresses you provide into GPS coordinates for geographic analysis
• Data Sent: Only the addresses you manually enter (e.g., "123 Main St, New York, NY")
• Data Received: GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude)
• Third-Party: OpenStreetMap Foundation (open-source, non-profit)
• Privacy: OpenStreetMap does not store your queries
• You Can: Disable by not using the "Locations" feature

2. IP Geolocation (ipapi.co - Optional)

• Purpose: Converts IP addresses in your data exports to approximate locations
• Data Sent: Only IP addresses found in your uploaded files
• Data Received: Approximate city/country for each IP
• Third-Party: ipapi.co
• Privacy: Results are cached locally to minimize requests
• You Can: Toggle off in app settings to keep analysis fully offline

Important: Both geocoding services are optional and can be avoided by not using the Locations feature and disabling IP geolocation in settings.

2. Local Storage (On Your Device Only)

What We Store Locally:

• ✅ Files you upload (stored in IndexedDB on your device)
• ✅ Analysis results and findings
• ✅ App settings and preferences
• ✅ Purchase status (if you unlock Pro features)
• ✅ Onboarding completion status

Where It's Stored:

• iOS: Device's local storage (IndexedDB)
• Android: Device's local storage (IndexedDB)
• Never: Cloud servers, external databases, or third-party storage

Your Control:

• You can delete all app data at any time using the "Clear App Data" button in the Info tab
• Uninstalling the App removes all stored data from your device
• Files you upload are never transmitted to our servers

3. Data Processing

All Processing Is Local:

• File Parsing: Happens in Web Workers on your device
• Analysis & Detection: Runs entirely offline using local algorithms
• OCR (Optical Character Recognition): Performed on-device using native iOS/Android capabilities
• PDF Generation: Created entirely on your device
• Geographic Analysis: Calculated using formulas that run locally

No Cloud Processing:

• We do not upload your files to any server
• We do not use cloud-based AI or analysis services
• We do not process data remotely

4. Third-Party Services

App Stores:

• Apple App Store / Google Play: Handle app distribution and in-app purchases
• Payment Processing: Handled entirely by Apple (StoreKit) or Google (Play Billing)
• We Do Not: Receive or store payment information, credit cards, or billing details

Optional Geocoding (As Described Above):

• OpenStreetMap Nominatim API (for address geocoding)
• ipapi.co (for IP geolocation - optional)

5. Data Sharing

We Do NOT Share Your Data With:

• ❌ Third-party advertisers
• ❌ Analytics companies
• ❌ Data brokers
• ❌ Government agencies (unless required by law)
• ❌ Any other third parties

Exception: If we receive a valid legal request (subpoena, court order) that requires us to disclose information, we will comply to the extent legally required. However, since we do not store your data on our servers, we would have no information to disclose.

6. Permissions & Device Access

Permissions We Request:

iOS:

• Photos: To allow you to upload screenshots for OCR analysis (optional)
• Files: To allow you to upload data export files (optional)

Android:

• Storage: To allow you to upload files and screenshots (optional)
• Photos/Media: To allow you to select images for OCR analysis (optional)

How We Use Permissions:

• Permissions are only used when you actively choose to upload files or images
• We do not access your photos or files without your explicit action
• We do not scan your device for files automatically

7. Children's Privacy

ForensAI is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

8. Data Security

Our Security Measures:

• Encryption: All local storage uses device-level encryption (iOS/Android native)
• No Network Transmission: Your files are never sent over the internet
• Offline-First Design: Core functionality works completely offline
• No External Dependencies: Minimal reliance on external services

Your Responsibility:

• Keep your device locked with a passcode/biometric authentication
• Do not share your device with untrusted parties
• Be aware that files stored on your device may be accessible if your device is compromised

9. Data Retention & Deletion

How Long We Store Data:

• On Your Device: Data persists until you delete it or uninstall the App
• On Our Servers: We do not store any data on our servers

How to Delete Your Data:

1. Clear App Data: Use the "Clear App Data" button in the App's Info tab
2. Uninstall App: Removing the App deletes all stored data from your device

Note: Once you delete data, it cannot be recovered. We recommend exporting any important findings (PDF reports) before clearing data.

10. Your Rights

You Have the Right To:

• ✅ Access: View all data stored locally in the App
• ✅ Delete: Remove all data at any time using "Clear App Data"
• ✅ Control: Choose whether to use optional geocoding services
• ✅ Export: Generate PDF reports of your analysis before deleting data

Limitations:

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• We cannot access your data remotely
• We cannot delete your data remotely
• We cannot export your data on your behalf
• Data recovery is your responsibility (via device backups)

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Posting the updated policy in the App Store listing
• Including a notice in the App (if significant changes)

Continued Use: Your continued use of ForensAI after changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes acceptance of those changes.

12. International Users

ForensAI is designed to work offline and does not transmit data internationally. However, if you use optional geocoding services:

• Address geocoding may connect to OpenStreetMap servers (hosted globally)
• IP geolocation may connect to ipapi.co servers (hosted globally)

Your data (addresses/IPs) is sent only when you explicitly use these features.

13. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

We Do NOT:

• Sell your personal information
• Share your personal information for commercial purposes
• Collect categories of personal information listed under CCPA

Since we do not collect personal information, most CCPA provisions do not apply. However, you still have the right to:

• Know what information is stored locally (all stored in IndexedDB on your device)
• Request deletion (use "Clear App Data" button)
• Non-discrimination (we do not discriminate based on privacy choices)

14. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

We Do NOT:

• Process personal data on our servers
• Transfer personal data outside the EEA (except optional geocoding you choose to use)
• Use personal data for automated decision-making

Your Rights:

• Right to Access: View all data stored locally in the App
• Right to Erasure: Use "Clear App Data" to delete all data
• Right to Data Portability: Export PDF reports before deleting data
• Right to Restrict Processing: Disable optional geocoding services
• Right to Object: Stop using the App at any time

Legal Basis: We process your data (locally on your device) based on your consent (by using the App) and for the purpose of providing the service you requested (forensic analysis).
